Coldplay Viva La Vida Tour 23 Mar 09 @ Singapore Indoor Stadium

The performance was great! But the audience pissed me off majorly. Everyone's just so OBSESSED with taking photos, there were flash-lights going on ALL THE TIME! It doesn't matter for the fast pieces, but when they do a ballad and you keep getting distracted by the flashes of light all over, it is TOTALLY NOT COOL. It just spoilt the atmosphere!

I don't understand it, why do people derive so much joy in recording the whole darn concert in their cameras, when they shoud instead be immersing in the live and enjoying it there & then??! Is it so important to put it up on your blog or show it to your friends??? Even if it's for memories' sake, is it really necessary to take so many pictures & videos???

& from the performer's point of view, isn't it more rewarding to see the audience rocking to the live performance, instead of seeing them hold up a camera/handphone perpetually to record the performance???

See that's the reason why i prefer to watch lives in Japan.

I ended up at the very back of the Wu Bai & China Blue pub show in February (no time to go queue up, grrr), and it was miserable. So many people illegally filming, holding their cameras up and blocking my view!

For the March show, I queued, got front row, yay! And this time they actually had someone get on stage and "remind" people that filming, recording, and photos were all a big no-no at Wu Bai & China Blue concerts.

Another show in May, but I think I won't go, can't face another grueling two days in line for just two hours of show that I've already seen before..... :(

Well, that's a stupid setup, can't buy a ticket. Hmph. Good luck getting one! Dino just said that they're not leaving Taiwan until the 21st, they're gonna be pretty tired, I think.

You summed it up perfectly: The Now Moment. You can't recapture the moment ever exactly as it occurs, that is how seniors 80+ remember and reflect on life all of those wonderful experiences. While it is more than bothersome about the immaturity of the constant recording and lights flashing, those folks are trying to hold onto the "Now" moment and relive the joy of being there for as long as their digital lives will allow them.
